Fiastro
The Fiastro occurred on June 20, 2007 at Oakland. Manager Jerry Narron, always seeking an edge over his opponent, elected to pinch hit Juan Castro for CF Josh Hamilton in the top of the 9th against lefty Alan Embree to gain a platoon advantage. Narron later admitted that Castro had historically done well against Embree. Which was true, if you count Castro's 1 for 1 prior record against Embree as "historical."
Castro struck out swinging. The Reds fired Narron two weeks later.
